Great Days of Nemea 2025!

The Great Days of Nemea are here again! Now in their 21st year, the event keeps growing in success year after year. Wine lovers from across Greece and beyond flock to Nemea and its wineries to taste both new and aged Agiorgitiko wines—single varietals as well as blends. A total of 30 wineries from 17 villages across Greece’s largest wine-producing region will open their doors, offering tastings of a wide range of PDO Nemea wines along with the chance to purchase bottles to take home. At the same time, visitors will enjoy a rich program of cultural and wine-centered events.

Friday, September 5

Opening of the Great Days of Nemea

“The Angels’ Symposium” – Courtyard of the Nemea Courthouse, 7:30 p.m.

An evening dedicated to Nemea’s wines and winemakers. Guests will enjoy live music with beloved songs by renowned composers, while large-screen projections will showcase the history and cultural value of wine. The event blends art, imagery, and tradition, highlighting wine as a living part of Greek heritage and Mediterranean culture.

 

Saturday, September 6

11:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m. – Open tasting at the Association venue (free admission)

11:00 a.m. – Tasting “Rosé Agiorgitiko” with Maria Tzitzi (Chemist–Oenologist, author)

A guided presentation of 11 outstanding rosé wines from the Agiorgitiko variety, including insights into winemaking methods and the versatile character of this grape, which produces exemplary rosés.

1:00 p.m. – PDO Nemea tasting of 11 labels with Kostas Touloumtzis

A curated selection from top wineries showcases the full richness and multiple expressions of Agiorgitiko—from fresh and fruity to complex and aged styles. A journey through both classic labels and modern approaches, offering a complete picture of the variety’s depth and potential.

7:00 p.m. – Masterclass: “Kydonitsa, the honored Greek variety”

A deep dive into Kydonitsa, the rising white grape of Greece. The session covers its history, typicity, viticulture, winemaking influences, and expressions across the Peloponnese, accompanied by a tasting of 14 wines.

A blind tasting of 20+ Nemea wines, examining Agiorgitiko’s varietal character, blending role, and cru-level distinctions within the zone. An exploration of how well we truly know Agiorgitiko and the unique terroirs of Nemea.

11:00 a.m. – Tasting “The Whites of Nemea” with Stavros Moustakas–Oktopodas DipWSET

A colorful mosaic of white wines from Nemea and beyond, highlighting Assyrtiko alongside Malagousia, Roditis, Sklava, and Sauvignon Blanc. Styles range from natural and organic to barrel-aged fumé, with rare expressions showcasing the region’s experimental spirit in white winemaking.
